Captivate 5.5 and Articulate

Nov 09, 2011

I just upgraded from Captivate 3.0 to Captivate 5.5. When I publish to Articulate, the Captivate piece plays as if it is on fast forward. Articulate is set to 30 frames as it Captivate. I tried a lower frame rate of 10 in Captivate and it still didn't play properly.  Any ideas why Captivate is not playing properly?

It is because Captivate 5.5 publishes in Action Script 3 and Articulate publishes in Action Script 2.  The two are not compatible.  A work around that we use is to publish the Captivate as an MP4 and then place it in Articulate.  Keep in mind thought that since it is an MP4 there is no interactivity like a SWF.

Hope this helps.

Hello Heroes,

I request your help on an issue I am facing with Captivate and Articulate. I have created and published a quiz using Articulate Quizmaker.

I am not trying to import that as an Animation in my Captivate 5.5 slide and am getting the Action script 2 vs 3 error. Is there any other way I can integrate my Articulate Quiz into my Captivate.

Please advise.

Many thanks,

Amit

Inserting the Captivate 5.5 as a web object worked perfectly! Your directions were so easy to follow. I tried both sets and had success with each.

Now I need to send the file via email for review/approval. When I publish and email, the Captivate does not play. I'm assuming that's because it's not embedded. Do I simply create a zip with the published articulate and captivate files inside or is another step missing?

Will I face this same issue when uploading to the LMS and what is the work-around?

Hi Crisa!

The EXE file relies on other files to work properly. That said, I recommend emailing the files using the method below:

1. Publish the presentation to EXE
2. When the Publish Successful window opens, click the Open Folder option
3. Select all of the files in the folder and right click the selection
4. Choose Send to > Compressed zipped Folder. This will create a ZIP file.
5. Email the ZIP file to the person you wish to see the presentation
6. Once the other person receives the files, they will need to unzip the entire contents to a folder on their machine.
7. Finally, they will launch the presentation by running the Launch_Presentation.exe file

For more information on how to unzip a zip file, see:

And as long as you follow the guidelines here for publishing to LMS, you should be fine. Hope that's helpful!

Hi everybody,

I'm have some questions regarding the integration between articulate and captivate 5.5.

So for starters, is it predictable that captivate release a new version anytime soon that includes Action script 3? This would be great news!

Regarding the captures as web object, everything works fine however in my company we use to zipp the files and send it to our clients for them to test, and they are not able to see the captures. I've published the files to EXE, as Peter Anderson suggested, however my client cannot run the executable, i don't know if it is because they don't have articulate or if it a question of company security.

So i have a problem now, the captures don't run when i sent the files published as HTML or LMS and they cannot execute the .EXE file neither.

Is there any other solution for us to test the training materials without deploy the files in the LMS?

Many thanks for the support,

Welcome to Heroes, Cesar!

Would you like to send us your files so we can test them on our end? Our support engineers will be happy to work with you to find a solution. If you'd like to do that, please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:
