Control navigation but not pace
Oct 25, 2012
I have a learning module that includes both regular slides and engage interactions. All of the slides are fully narrated, as are the pieces of the engage interactions.
I have locked up the playback so that the slides must be viewed in a specific order (1 - 20). My problem is that it's not allowing users to advance to the next slide until the audio for a slide finished.
I want the controlled navigation that I have, but I don't want to control the pace. The audio is a complimentary but not essential. Can I do this? How?

Jenifer,
A couple of things came to mind to possibly try when I read your post.
I'm not sure if either of these will resolve the issue, but they are something to try while waiting for other responses, if you are so inclined.
Have a great day!
Keepin' the joy,
Patti
Thanks, Patti. I've done both of those things. I can advance within the Engage interactions at any time, but I can't advance from slide to slide on the other stuff until the audio plays out.
Maybe there is some difference between "restricted" and "locked" navigation setting in the player template? Would that make a difference? I currently have it "restricted". Perhaps I should choose "locked?"
Another though.. In the player template, I have the box checked next to "automatically scroll naviagtion to keep up with presentation". Is that an issue?
I think I know what the problem is. I have animation embedded into my slides. I bet I can't advance to the next slide until all of the embedded navigation has triggered.
If someone could please confirm that this is correct, I'd be grateful.
Also, is there a work around? Could I coach clicks to trigger the navigation so that users could click through more quickly if the'd like to?
Good Afternoon, Jenifer.
You can Customize the Advance Behavior of Your Slides. Does this help?
Please let us know how it goes. Thanks!
Thanks for trying, but alas, my slides are already set to advance by user. I think this has to do with the audio and animation on the slides. User controlled advance not allowed until all of the animation and audio has played out.

Thanks for the Screencast, Jenifer.
Would you mind creating an Articulate package of your course, and then uploading the zip file via a support case so that we can take a look? Thanks!
