Embedding Video Issues

Sep 24, 2014

Hopefully somebody can help me with this issue. I am using Studio 13 with PowerPoint 2010 (32-bit) to embed videos hosted on Vimeo. I have used both the Add Slide Video From Website option and the Web Object option. When I Preview the project, I get the Web Object is unavailable during preview or Web Video is unavailable during preview. So I publish out through the LMS option and upload the zip file to reviewmyelearning.com to see how the video plays.

Here is the issue I am having, when the video slide first appears a blank screen is visible with the Only secure content is displayed message. After clicking Show all Content, the entire presentation reloads. The video will now be visible and plays. If I leave this video slide by clicking next and then click previous to revisit the slide, the video is not visible and will not reload. I have to exit and reload the course to replay the video.

I embedded a YouTube video following both methods described above and I do not have any of the issues as described in the second paragraph. I asked a friend to use Storyline to recreate the same project, embed the same video and publish the zipped LMS files. The course played without any of the issues described in the second paragraph.

I have searched through the forums and could not find anyone having a similar issue. At this point, the learner can watch the video once and then they would need to reload the entire course to watch it again.

I should mention when I updated the software I received several Runtime Errors and the Articulate ribbon become unresponsive to any command. IT eventually reinstalled the software and advised not to run the update.

System Info:

Intel i7 @ 2.0 GHz

8.0 GB Ram

64-bit Win 7

PowerPoint 2010 (32-bit)

Articulate Studio 13 update 1:1311.520

I would appreciate any ideas at this point.

Hi Mark and welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I would advise utilizing the add video from website option. This is not an issue that I'm familiar with either.

The best test would be to see if you get the same result in SCORM Cloud. If you can replicate your LMS issue in SCORM Cloud, we would need to take a look at your presentation.

Thank you Leslie for the quick response. I uploaded the LMS files into SCORM Cloud and I cannot get to the video slide due to the Display Secure Content function keeps reloading the page.

I can add you to the SCORM Cloud account to review the content If you want to send me your email?

I can send you the presentation, it's only three slides with the video slide in the middle. Not sure how I could get you to the video as we do not publicly share them on Vimeo. Any suggestions?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the update - if you'd like to give us access to the course on SCORM Cloud you can share a public link here. Additionally, you could post the Presenter package here.

I just went to Vimeo and tried to pull a random video, and Presenter gives an error about the embed code - so I'm not sure if it's something with Vimeo's embed code either. I'm using Presenter '13 update 4 as well.

Could you share a link to the video you were able to embed?

Ashley,

Here is access to the course on SCORM Cloud:

https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/InvitationConfirmEmail?publicInvitationId=7fc9c365-ff31-4734-b9c1-d654e7e4dd1c

I tried the attachment for uploading Presenter package, I did not receive a "success" message after clicking the upload button. Let me know if it does appear.

Here is the link to the video:

Thank you for your help Ashley.

Leslie, if I change my internet security settings to enable mixed content (from prompt to enable mixed content) then I can getmy video to play through SCORM Cloud. Still will not reload when revisiting the slide.

I was able to play your video on first pass, but after leaving the slide and then clicking previous to revisit the slide, the video does not load. Do you have the same experience?

Thank you.

Mark

Hi Mark!

I am not totally familiar with Vimeo, I apologize, but I am not able to recreate this issue with another video from their site.

You can see my published output here:

http://lmckerchie.articulate-online.com/4780519145

I inserted both as web object and video from site and it works each time I visit the slides.

I tried to utilize the video that you referenced above and I do believe this is simply due to security issues as you are accessing paid content or content that they want you to pay for.
