Hello all, I just loaded a new system and purchased a new copy of Studio 09. When I try to launch .ppta files I get an error that says Error: Could not initialize Microsoft Powerpoint. I've tried reinstalling both Studio and Office, anyone got any ideas?
File name matches, and it's locally on my desktop. I just created a new file to test whether it was something inherited from the older files, and the new file also generates that error.
System is Windows 7 64 bit, has Adobe Cs5 Production Premium, Captivate 4 and 5, and Articulate 09 installed, as well as Office 10.
Submitted a case, really need to figure out what it causing this, as I just started a contract and need to get Articulate running. A clarification, it was running on this new system for a week, then suddenly I got this error. Puzzled and frustrated.
No problem, I didn't think it was something on your end, I was just hoping for a magic bullet to fix it. Unfortunately, when a Windows Update goes bad, it usually is terminal.

Hi Hugh,
Does the file name of the PPTA file match the file name of the PowerPoint file? Also, are you working off of a Flash or network drive?

Hi Hugh,
Do you receive an error message when you double-click the Articulate Presenter '09 shortcut on the Desktop?
Brian. I do not, it goes to the Presenter splash screen, and I can launch powerpoint via the lower right button
I also tried launching powerpoint first, then opening a ppta file and that also generates the error.
Hi Hugh,
Would you mind submitting a support case to us so that we can take a closer look at the issue?

update: Reloaded machine to resolve issue, but it seems most likely that a bugged update of .NET 4 was at fault.
