Is there a way to get Articulate's next button to advance to the next animation on a slide instead of advancing to the next contiguous slide? I see options for auto-playing animations - but I haven't been able to find anything that allows for animations to advance on click of the Articulate 'Next' button.

Presenter does not support on click animations. The setting that you see will set the delay of the animations
I've seen other users utilize splitting things on different slides if you need to simulate on-click animation.
You can submit that as a feature request if you wish, but in the meantime, you may be best to just sync the animation.
