Images become fuzzy once published

Jan 13, 2014

Hi-

We used the '09 version and recently updated to '13.  We use Snag It to capture images and they were perfect in '09.  Now that we have '13, all images, captured using Snag It (.png files) show up as fuzzy when published.

Is there something we can do to fix this?  What is the best way to capture screenshots?

We have Studio '13, not Storyline.

Any guidance is greatly appreciated.  I have been searching and retaking images, however, to no avail.

Thanks,

Angela

Hi Angela,

Have you tried adjusting your publish quality settings in Presenter '13?

You can check your current publishing settings by clicking on Publish >> Method (Web, LMS, etc.) >> Quality link.

It should look something like this:

Also, make sure that you're not viewing your published project files locally. If you view a published Studio '13 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the article below for more information:

Thank you Christine, and I appreciate the quick reply.  I followed the steps and now when I try to preview the file once published, I get a message indicating Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.

I confirmed there were no issues with my connection and can get to the internet.  I have published at least 5 times and continue to get that message.  Any ideas as to what may be causing that?

Thanks,

Hi Angela,

Sorry to hear about the errors with IE. Can you tell me how you're viewing the published presentation, please? Are you viewing the published output files locally, or are you uploading to a web server or LMS?

If you're viewing your published files locally, this may be the problem. If you view a published Studio '13 or '09 presentation on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

If you do not have access to a web server or LMS for testing, you could try using SCORM Cloud.

Another option would be to use our Tempshare server. Just keep in mind that this server is only available for testing content - it is not officially supported by Articulate and all content will be removed automatically after 10 days.

You're always welcome to try out Articulate Online, as well - it's available for a free 30 day trial.

If you're uploading to a web server or LMS, please try clearing your browser cache. If that doesn't help, try viewing the project in a different web browser.

Here are the download links for the most popular browsers, just in case you don't have them:

Let me know if you still have trouble viewing your content after trying the suggestions above.

Thanks!
