Java version 7 issue on Articulate
May 16, 2012
Our Online content does not work with the latest Java version 7 update 4. But when I downgrade my version to 6 the course content works. Could this be articulate issues we use to create our contents? or this is directly with our LMS provider (plateau). Is there a way our content work on both version?
Thanks,
Luwi

Hey Luw!
This is most likely unrelated to Articulate software, as noted in this KB, and would be something to take up with your LMS.
Hi,
We find it strange though that some of our courses that were not created using Articulate works fine with Java 7 in our LMS. Do you have any idea why?
Thanks,
Luwi
^Can someone answer me here. Thanks!
Hi. I would definitely contact your LMS. Our content does not require Java to run.
I'm having the same issue with Java 7 and a different LMS. The content provided by the LMS company works fine, it is only our Articulate courses that are having this issue. That said, the same courses worked on a different LMS using Java 7. Using that argument the first LMS provider is working on a fix.
If or when we get a fix I'll update this post.
Hi edgar. What LMS provider support your company? Plateau is our LMS provider. This java issue really cause us big problem.
Hi John, we use two different LMS providers, Skillport and Thinking Cap. On Thinking Cap the Java 7 courses work fine, on SkillPort, the course just open a blank screen. SkillPort is working on a fix.
Thank you. let me know once they fix it. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
I got a message from our LMS team today saying that the eLearning I created with Storyline does not function properly with the latest version of Java, which is 7 update 25. Our LMS is Plateau. Any suggestions for a solution?
Hi Angela.
Java is not a requirement of our content so I would suggest contact the LMS.
Hi Justin,
I just turned off Java and tried to launch my eLearning content and couldn't. I turned Java back on and it launched just fine. So, while Java may not a requirement, it appears it needs it to run.
Thoughts?
javascript and java are two different languages
Java is not required to run content
