PowerPoint freeezes

Oct 15, 2013

I am running 32-bit PowerPoint 2010. Windows 7.  I created and saved a regular .pptx file and it works fine.  I recorded a narration and saved and closed it.  I opened the file and it played albeit very staticy compared to Presenter '09.  Tried to click on the "home" button in PowerPoint to add a slide and the screen froze.

Reopened the file and received the dreaded note about "Serious problems with articulate ribbon add-in...disable or not?" I did NOT disable knowing what this would do. Clicked no and got into the file.

I added my new slide.  Clicked the Articulate tab and clicked on "Slide properties"  no other reason than to see if it would freeze again using another tab.  PowerPoint froze again.

Closed program. Reopened. Clicked on Articulate, Clicked preview slide, preview appeared but would not play. PowerPoint froze again.

I accessed community forums like I have done before and followed support article re: add-in message.  File, options, add-ins, manage, disabled items, Go = No articulate add-ins were disabled. Then....File, options, Add-Ins, Manage, COM Add-Ins, Go = All Articulate Add-Ins checked.  Clicked okay. restarted PowerPoint.

Message MS PowerPoint has stopped working correctly.  Windows will close the program. Clicked "Close program"

Reopened PowerPoint.  Message: Serious issue with Articulate Ribbon-Add-In...Blah blah blah."

Access forums and began writing this message.  Thought I'd take the bull by the horn while waiting for tech support to call me.

I just upgraded from Presenter '09 to '13 and am using a brand new computer that our IT set up. I had the same problems with '09 on the new computer.  No problems with '09 on my old computer prior to it being ruined by a nasty virus.  I was running the trial version of "09 on an interim computer before we upgraded to '13 on my new computer.

My problem was fixed.  I created a new document and published two previous attempts and all worked out fine when published and uploaded into Canvas. Here is the portion of the tech's email that helped me solve the problem.
