Presenter '09 - how to extract audio from published files

Mar 23, 2017

I am working on a contract job that involves updating courses that were created in Presenter '09. I need to use audio from the existing courses, but the source files are unavailable. Is there a way that I can extract audio from the published files? I have seen on past, very old forum posts that the audio should be stored in the .ppta file, but I'm not clear on how to extract it from there. Any help on this is very appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Good Morning, Mary Beth!

The .ppta file is a source file.  If you have that, here's a great article on how to extract it.

On the other hand, if you only have a folder full of course assets, that is likely your published output, and in Presenter ‘09, the audio was always part of the .swf files (since we didn’t publish for mobile devices in the olden days).  In other words, you can’t easily extract audio from the published output of a Studio ‘09 course.

Good luck with your project!
