Presenter '13 Video Won't Play in SCORM Package

Feb 24, 2017

I'm trying to automatically play a video. It works perfectly in PowerPoint and when I preview the slides the video loads automatically without any user control - which is what I want. However, when I create and publish the presentation to Presenter '13 as a SCORM package for use in Moodle the video doesn't play.

Any ideas?

Hey Dave,

Sorry you're running into this! Have you tried uploading your course to SCORM Cloud to see if the same thing happens there? SCORM Cloud is an industry standard and you can get a free account for testing purposes if you don't already have one. Check out this tutorial on Troubleshooting your LMS using SCORM Cloud for reference.

If the videos play automatically in SCORM Cloud, I would recommend reaching out to Moodle for further guidance. If you do see the same issue in SCORM Cloud, would you mind sharing your Articulate Package with our Support Engineers? You can send the package directly to them right here. They'll test it and then contact you via email to let you know what they found.

Thanks Alyssa

I've made some progress on the issue. It has to do with the way that I'm embedding the videos. If I use the standard Insert Video choice available in PowerPoint then the video doesn't play in the Articulate player. If I use the Insert Video option available from the Articulate Add In Menu then it seems to work fine.

I've solved everything (I think!) except how to animate the appearance of the video in Articulate. for example, I want to animate text in the PowerPoint slide and then have the video appearing after the text animation has completed. Any ideas on that would be most welcome.

However I am making good progress!

Thanks for that update, Dave, and glad to hear you're making progress!  You're right - we do recommend using the Insert Video feature within the Articulate tab to add a video to the slide.

To show the video after the text animation completes, have you tried starting the video a few seconds after the slide begins? For example, you can choose to start the video 5 seconds after the slide starts, if the text takes about 5 seconds to complete its animation. Let me know if that'll work for you!
