Problems Publishing Specific Powerpoints

Jun 25, 2014

Hello there,

I am working on a project that should be quite simple. At this phase, I am simply taking pre-existing powerpoint slides and publishing them as Articulate projects with very little doctoring. For some reason, all of the slideshows from this project fail to publish within the first few seconds of an attempt. I am pretty sure it is not my computer settings or the settings in powerpoint or articulate, because many other PowerPoints NOT from this series publish fine, both under the WEB settings and the ARTICULATE ONLINE settings. I am guessing there is something corrupt about the file, or somehow the powerpoint settings are incompatable with publishing. PLEASE HELP! I have spent many hours trying to alter the files to function, but cannot find the solution.

Hi Dane,

First, welcome to the community! :)

Sorry to hear about the trouble!

Please make sure that you're working with local project files.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you've checked the location and the file names, but you still have trouble publishing, please share an Articulate Package here. I'd be happy to take a look at what's happening. Please just keep in mind that the file size limit for the forums is currently 20 MB. If the files are larger than this, please let me know and we'll look at using a different method to share the files.

Best,

Christine
