Recorded narration truncated

Feb 05, 2013

I see similar issues in this forum pertaining to swf, but nothing quite like this. Record Narration is suddenly putting out wav files missing the last half-second, second or so. The amount of audio clipped varies from attempt to attempt. The wav files themselves are truncated.

This happens consistently from slide to slide, though the amount cut off seems to vary, from just a little silence missing at the end, to a word or two. The slides contain only text, no animations, no video. I'm using Studio 09 Pro.

This problem seems to have just started today, after several years of service, and is not confined to a particular file. It even happens with a brand new blank PPT containing no text or images. Even if I leave a second or two of dead air at the end, the vocal may still be truncated.

Does this seem familiar to anyone?

Hi Craig,

That is quite strange. I know this may seem simple - but if this just started, have you tried restarting the machine? If so, do you know of any updates or changes that have been made to either the audio files, presentation files or machine before this started? Do the audio files play regularly outside of PowerPoint and Presenter?

Another concern I have is the location of the files. Are you working from any external sources, such as a USB drive or network drive? Try moving the files to your hard drive, if so and let me know if this makes a difference.

Thanks!
