Skydrive with Studio '13

Jan 07, 2014

I have placed all my files for Quizmaker '13, Engage '13, and Presenter '13 (basically Studio '13) on my Skydrive account.  I have no problems when working with the Quizmaker and Engage files but unable to work with the Presenter files.  I am able to open them but not able to make changes and save them.  It's highly likely that I am doing something wrong.  I copied the files from my PC to Skydrive.  I am working with Windows 7 on the home computer and Windows 8.1 on my traveling computer.

As always, any suggestions are welcomed...thanks!

Hi Ke Lo,

Skydrive is cloud storage - Articulate software isn't supported on this type of system, so if you decide to use this, you're likely to see some issues.

When you're working with project files, try to make sure they're on your local hard drive.

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Now, that doesn't mean that you cannot store your content on the Skydrive storage when you're not modifying it. Say you just need to move the files there so you can access it from another computer - that's fine. When you're working with the files, however, it's best to have them available on your local machine.
