Sync Animations -- Odd Behavior

Oct 07, 2012

Of course, this stuff only happens on the weekend...

With an ordinary Presenter project, when I attempt to Sync Animations, the audio file begins to play without any interbvention. The "Start Sync" button has not been clicked, and it still says, "Start Sync."

If I click the "Start Sync" button, a second playing of the audio file begins.

Now, if I wait for a screen's audio file to finish, and then click "Start Sync," I can sync animations for that screen... but advancing to the next screen auto-starts the audio.

Restarting PowerPoint didn't help, and a re-boot didn't make any difference.

So what's up with that??

Hey Dave,

If you're able, I'd go ahead and open a suppor ticket and send us your files so we can have a closer look at why this may be happening. Please create an Articulate Presenter package, then upload the zip file to our server. You can review how to do this here:

Send to Articulate Presenter Package – Articulate Presenter ’09 Help

Upload the resulting zip file from your computer to our server using this upload form:

Thanks!

Hi Peter, I just figured this out a little while ago. It's a dope-slap moment:

Although there were no sound icons visible in the PowerPoint, turns out that there was still embedded audio there. The audio files were embedded as slide transitions.

So it looks like if there's embedded audio in a PPT and you import audio to the project, when you go to sync animations the embedded audio plays first, and then you're queued-up to sync the imported audio.

Anyway, once I found this and removed the embedded audio, sanity has returned.
