Syncing Causes Powerpoint to Crash
Nov 22, 2011
Hello,
I've had multiple problems with Articulate recently but my most recent one and one that I'm hoping someone could shed some insight on is with a course I am creating for my company currently. I have built my course and recorded my audio all with the latest version of articulate. I even used a powerpoint template created by Tom. I started syncing my audio with my animations and after a few slides I would save, I would then get an error message from powerpoint saying that it needed to close. I then started trying to save after every slide synced. It then started crashing after every slide.
Has anyone had experience with this? I know that we had problems with our audio before and Articualte told us not to save within folders so I have this file right on my desktop.
Help is greatly appreciated!

Welcome to Heroes, Kelly!
Sorry for the frustration you're experiencing, but we'll do our best to resolve the issues. If PowerPoint crashes, closes unexpectedly, or locks up while you are attempting to record narration, sync animations, add annotations, or use the Audio Editor, please review the following article for solutions and let me know if you continue to experience the problem:

Hi Peter. I followed those instructions. I even re recorded all of my audio (hence my 4 hour delay in responding) and when i went to sync it, I got the same powerpoint error message. I know that in my company we have been having huge ongoing issues with Articulate. I am under a very tight deadline to get this course out. Any ideas?
Hey Kelly,
If you want to go ahead and Create an Articulate Presenter Package and upload the zip file to us, our awesome support engineers would be happy to take a close look at it and help you resolve the issue. You can do that here:

When you submit your case, be sure to mention the url from this thread along with any other information you think would be important for them to know. Thanks for your patience!
Kelly,
Although you are getting the error when syncing animations in Articulate Presenter, the error is still a PowerPoint error. With that said, it sounds like PowerPoint (MS Office) needs to be reinstalled. If you haven't tried this already please refer to the following link.

If you have already reinstalled MS Office and the issue persists, please let us know if you are using a docking station or similar hardware component to port your display to another monitor. Just recently, we have reports that the Dynadock and it's application conflicts with MS Office. Try syncing without using the docking station.
I hope this helps!
The same thing happened to me if the original PowerPoint file had been created by somebody else, using a spellchecker from a language not installed on my computer. But at least I could get around it by saving each slide separately after it had been synced.
Good luck !
