We use sakai as LMS, hoping to play Articulate courseware on ipad, iphone and other equipment that carrying ios8, but tests found embedded mp4 files can not be played, whether in auto-play mode or in the click play mode, but if from the LMS, playing correctly, please give guidance!
There was an issue corrected in Update 1 for Storyline 2, where embedded videos don't play as expected in Articulate Storyline 2 courses when you view the HTML5 output in iOS 8. Do you know what update you're using to publish your courses? Also it's worth noting that if the MP4 doesn't play you may want to look into the troubleshooting steps mentioned here and look at testing the course at SCORM Cloud as well which is an industry standard for testing SCORM content.
You may want to test the file on the SCORM Cloud to see if you get the same results. I ran a test here with your file, and was able to view the video on an iPad mini with 8.1.2. Also, please make sure you are using the latest update for your Storyline, found here.
I have been measured before, playing in the SCORM Cloud is normal, but not under Sakai Scorm, please give some guidance on compatibility issues, by the way, Articulate Presenter '13 and Articulate storyline I use are the latest version.
If the course is playing as designed on the SCORM Cloud, you will need to troubleshoot from the LMSs end. You can see this article for some ideas, or you can reach out to the IT team for the LMS.
After further testing, I found that the question should be if the video path is not the actual path, the video will not play, which is probably why the video courseware from reason can play in the LMS. I do not know what is the solution?
I'm not sure I'm clear on what you mean by the video path not being the actual path? If you've moved the file from it's original hosting location, you'd need to update that link in your course as well.
Ashley.... LIGHTBULBS going off here! We are not getting the video files to play corrected in the LMS from our published content, even though they play just fine in ScormCloud.
" If you've moved the file from it's original hosting location, you'd need to update that link in your course as well."
When we publish the content to the LMS from the zip file, the videos (MP4 files) are just blank in the course when accessed from the LMS (playbar appears....no video). As I mentioned, ScormCloud works just great and auto launches the videos just fine.
So... when we are publishing to the LMS, since that zip file is no longer located where the original "link" was hosted when I inserted the video into the Engage Interaction.... does that "link" need to reflect the final location of the presentation_content folder, in order for the MP4 files to be found???? Am I making any sense at all????
I'm not sure I'm following. When you publish your course to LMS, zip the files, and upload to your LMS, then that should work just as you are seeing it work in SCORM Cloud. I'm not sure what you are 'moving'? Are you accessing the published content on your LMS as your learner would?
Hi, Ruth -- Could you please verify if your video file is stored locally on your machine, or are you using a video from a website? Additionally, since you mentioned that your output is functioning properly in the SCORM Cloud (as that is the industry standard for testing), it would probably be best to contact your LMS provider directly for further exploration of the issue you are seeing.
Please see these articles for additional information on troubleshooting LMS issues:
Yes…the course content is loaded on the PROD server for the LMS, and I’m enrolled in the course, and there is No Video displayed….only a playbar with start/pause…. And a blank spot where the video should be (and IS when launched from ScormCloud).
Fiddler (debug tool) running on my machine while I’m in the course, shows a 404 error message on the three videos contained in the course. I have my Windows and LMS support people looking into what might be happening.
I also steered them to the MIME component that might be causing the videos not to play, as contained in an article I saw on the Community Forum. I don’t know what else to try or to suggest to my support folks. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks for the update Ruth! If you are unable to replicate in SCORM Cloud, I would look to your LMS for sure. Hopefully the error message details will be able to assist them in the diagnosis and if anyone in the community has some helpful tips or lessons learned, I'm sure they will pop in to share.
Good News, finally! IT applied the MIME settings as suggested in the tutorial to the LMS Server, and all is "right with the world"! Thanks for all of the assistance, and suggestions! This is such a beneficial User Community....Thanks AGAIN!

I don’t have detailed knowledge of our LMS Server structure. I only know that we are using Geometrix’ product Training Partner as our LMS for delivering and tracking corporate training.
Thanks!

Hi Peter!
Do you have any issue with my published output? Your video seems to be playing as expected for me.

If you are only having trouble with your LMS, then you may need to look to them for assistance.
Be sure that you are publishing for HTML5 as well. Check out this tutorial.

if our LMS have problems, However, video playback in courseware that I made use of iSpring Suite 7 is normal, can help explain the cause?
Hi Peter,
If videos won't play, you may want to review the information here in regards to reasons why videos may not work as expected.
