Tracking Progress (actual sldies viewed) in an LMS

Apr 28, 2015

Hi,

In Articulate Online you can report on a user's progress by seeing how many slides have been viewed. (This is separate from the complete/incomplete status, which indicates that a specified minimum no of slides must be viewed to 'complete' a course.)

How can this information be communicated to an LMS? Is it a limitation of SCORM that you can only communicate complete/incomplete (etc.)?

I am fairly new to SCORM, so forgive me if this is a newbie question; I've searched the forums and can't see a clear answer.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi, Mike -

Sorry I did not specify which part of the tutorial I had in mind to address your question. #4 under Step 5, “Choose Your Tracking and Reporting Preferences”:

4. Now click the Tracking tab on the left edge of the window and choose one of the following options:

  • Track using number of slides viewed: With this option, your LMS will determine whether a learner has passed or completed the course by monitoring the number of slides the learner has viewed. Use the selector to choose a number.
  • Track using quiz result: Select this option if your presentation includes a quiz that you want to use for tracking purposes. If you have more than one quiz, select the one you want to track.

5. Click OK when you're finished setting up your tracking and reporting preferences.

Thanks Christie, but this still doesn't answer my question.

I understand that I can track EITHER whether or not the required number of slides has been viewed - the answer effectively being 'yes' or 'no'  OR the results of a single quiz.

But what I want to know is how, using an LMS (not Articulate Online) I can see exactly how many slides have been viewed. This information is sent to Articulate online, but there doesn't seem a way to send it to a different LMS, as far as I can see.
