Video Encoder 09 Import

Jul 10, 2013

I am trying to use the application for the first time.  I opened the application for the first time on my PC and I get the initial menu to either Create Flash Video or open a recent.  I click on Import a video file and select a mp4 and it immediately get a dialog box "Articulate Video Encoder 09 has stopped working.  A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  There are two options - Debug or Close Program.  It doesn't matter which I choose the application goes gray and then nothing happens.  I tried the same with a mov clip and get the same results.  I have version V1.3.1103.112.

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Marcia!

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this.

First, can you please confirm you're importing local video files?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Also, you might want to try installing these Codec Packs:

K-Lite Codec Pack Full (accept all default installation options)

Media Player Codec Pack (deselect toolbar options during installation)

Are you running any specific security software, like Comodo?

Thanks,

Christine

I had the video file saved to my local desktop.  Also, nothing on the Articulate ribbon is working.  I click on anything and it does nothing.  I checked to see that the Articulate add ins are enabled in PowerPoint.  The ribbon is, but the communicator is not and it won't let me enable it.   I have a support ticket in with IT department to see if I need to be an admin on my PC in order to change this and get everything working.  What part does the communicator play in the software?

Hi Marcia,

I'm afraid I'm having trouble finding the case number for the support ticket you mentioned. Are you able to share the case number with me, so I can take a look and follow along with the progress?

In the meantime, if you haven't already, you might want to try the troubleshooting steps in the following article:

Unexpected or erratic behavior in Articulate Studio '09

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem as Marcia.

As soon as I import an Mp4, I am forced to abort Video Encoder.

Is there any fix for this issue?

It is saved on the Desktop folder in my C drive, so it should be able to access it.

I really want to use an animated image I made in PhotoShop CC, but my only output options are MP4 and .gif.

Hi Leslie.

I have tried in those ways, but I do not need codecs as I can open it normally in other programs without the codecs.

I have never used Video Encoder before now, and no files of it have been messed up, so it should certainly not be a reason for me to uninstall it and reinstall it.

Because I do not have all the registration information for powerpoint, it would be nearly impossible to reinstall and very time consuming.

It also shouldn't be considered unexpected or erratic since multiple people have the same issue.
