Video preloading not streaming as it should

Sep 16, 2014

According to this page

http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter-13/articulate-studio-13-progressively-streams-videos

Presenter is supposed to stream video, just as Presenter 09 did. However, now when we insert WMV video into Slide 3 of a 5-slide PPT, in the resulting course Presenter 13 preloads the video instead of streaming it.

The conversion to SWF and MP4 is done by Presenter 13 itself, so presumably it should stream as designed. I saw in this page

http://www.articulate.com/support/presenter-13/mp4-movie-doesnt-begin-playing-until-it-has-fully-downloaded

that "an MP4 video may not be properly formatted to allow progressive downloading." If all of my transcoding is done within Presenter 13 itself, I shouldn't need to do these workarounds, right?

Is there a setting in the Player I need to change to enable streaming? Why do we see preloading in Presenter 13?

Thanks!

Hey, Leslie:

Thanks for the quick reply! I think I'm confused, then, by the seemingly contradictory points. The article about preloading would suggest that my slides 1-3 (which would include the video slide) would pre-load. But the articles I mention, above, about video suggest that video is streamed, not preloaded. Can you help me understand the difference? Maybe by putting my video in my slide, the preloading rule wins over the streaming video rule?

I am publishing to LMS using SCORM 1.2. The resulting courses function as expected except for the preloading of the video.

Does that make sense?

Thanks again!
