Video quality play in presenter (FLV and mp4)
Jul 10, 2013
I am having an issue with getting a video to play in my presentation, the video was recorded as a screencast with the website screenr.com. I then downloaded it as an mp4 file. From the mp4 I then used the articulate video encoder to convert the file to an FLV file. When I view the mp4 in the articulate video encoder, as well as when I view the FLV as converted the video quality is extremely poor, the audio quality is fine. However, when I view the FLV or mp4 with windows media player, the quality it terrific.
I then tried to just insert the mp4 into the presentation using insert video from file, however, when I preview the slide in presenter, the video does not play, the slide shows for 10 seconds, and the video never begins playing nor is there an ability to click on a play icon.
Other strategies I have tried:
3rd party conversion from mp4 to FLV: wondershare, handbrake, AVS video converter
Has anyone had a similar situation? If so, did anything work to come to a solution? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi Saraya and Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! Have you seen this article and included Screenr tutorial on inserting Screenr into Presenter as a web object? This may help you out.
Why convert your MP4 files to FLV? PowerPoint presentation supports video files in ASF, WMV, AVI, MPEG/MPG, I think you may use articulate video encode to re-encode mp4 files again.
For anyone interested, I had the need to convert MP4 videos to FLV using Adobe Media Encoder CS4 and CS6 for business purposes which were out of my control. The results were excellent and the file sizes small. I did find that the CS4 version did a better job on the file size. Here are the exact settings:
Format Basic Settings:
FLV
Basic Video Settings:
Codec: On2 VP6
Bitrate Settings:
Bitrate Encoding: VBR
Encoding Passes: Two
Bitrate [kbps]: 512
Minimum Bitrate [% target]: 100
Maximum Bitrate [% target]: 120
Bitrate Variability [% target]: 100
Advanced Settings:
Undershoot [% target]: 90
Quality: Best
Basic Audio Settings:
Codec: MPEG Layer III (MP3)
Output Channels: Mono
Bitrate Settings: 96
Thanks for sharing that here Bryan!
