Web object link broken in published course

When I preview the course, everything works correctly, but when I publish the course, the web object links don't work. The splash page displays correctly, but clicking the link causes two different responses depending on the published file:
Regular published player Explorer file: Windows Internet Explorer error stating path or address is incorrect
Player extracted from zipped file: no response whatsoever
Also, when I save the zip file clicking Save in the folder containing the published course makes Windows open the published folder, as if I want to save the zip file there, which I do not. So I have to rename the zip file. It wasn't doing this a couple days ago.
Could my issues be caused by the paths being too long? The course has a pretty long name and is in a subfolder of a subfolder of a subfolder...
