Branching within a lesson

Oct 10, 2011

I need some help with branching.   The first part of the course presents the user  with information that was common to both work groups.   Now, I need to have a non-scoring (quiz) that allows the user to identify which group they belong to so that I can branch them to different places in the remainder of the lesson.  My choices for branching seem to be limited to one fo three options; Next question (-&gt (default) l Finish Quiz (->|) l or -  Specific question.  I need to branch them to a specific slide that is not a question.  Bottom line,  I want the user to identify the group they work for and branch them to the exact slide where their specific information starts.  Is this something that I can do in Articulate and if so, how?  Thank you in advance for any help/guidance you can provide.

Hi Jim! Yeah, the branching settings on an individual question don't provide the option to send the learner out of the quiz and to a different Presenter slide. But it sounds like you only need to ask one question in your quiz, right? If so, you could branch from the quiz based on the overall quiz results.

So, let's say your quiz question contains 2 answers - one that represents group A, and one that represents group B. You could make the Group A answer worth 10 points, and the Group B answer worth zero points. So if they pick the Group A answer, they "pass" the quiz, and if they pick the Group B answer, they "fail." Even though you don't necessarily need to communicate that scoring info to your user, you can use it to branch the learner to the right place after they submit their answer. Here's how.

You might already know how to remove scoring info from your quiz, but just in case, here's how to do that.

Hope that helps!
