It sounds like you've opened your quiz from within a Presenter project, by clicking the "Edit in Quizmaker" button on your quiz placeholder slide. If that's the case, instead of a Preview/Publish option, you're probably seeing a tool bar with a button that says "Save and Return to Presenter".
If you'd like to publish your quiz to Word, you'll need to open Quizmaker standalone, rather than from within PowrePoint/Presenter. You can do this by clicking the Windows Start button and then navigate to your Quizmaker program, and then open the .quiz file. Once your quiz opens, you'll see a Preview and Publish option on the far-right of the Quizmaker toolbar, like this:
If you publish your quiz to Word, then yes, you'll be able to make formatting changes to your Word document, and add or remove content if you like. Of course, any changes you make in Word will only affect that document (not the original file you created in Quizmaker).
If you are asking about publishing your content to Articulate Articulate Presenter, Web, Articulate Online, LMS, or CD, then no... in order to edit the quiz you'd need to make changes in Quizmaker and then republish.

Thanks Jeanette! Just what I was looking for! I was trying to go through Presenter. (I actually have never used Quizmaker outside of Presenter...yet.)
After you "publish" a quiz, can you edit it ?
