Background color suddenly changed

Oct 09, 2019

Any idea why the white background would turn to 100% transparency or dark gray?  This background was white, the Background is currently set to white with 0% transparency, yet when published it appears to have a dark background.

unfortunately, I can't share the file. I don't believe this has anything to do with settings.  When I Preview the file, the background is white, as it should be. when I publish the file (previous attached image, with background setting showing), it turns dark grey. It worked as it should. I deleted a question slide, renamed the file and saved. after that, the quiz slides changed color.

Hi Ian,

That is a bit odd that your background is changing after publishing your file.

It would help to look into the file to discover what the issue is. If you are not able to share it publically, you can share it privately with me here. As always, you can also connect with our Support Engineers privately here. Either way, we'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look!

Thanks for the response, I have resolved the issue. I noticed when I published that some of my radio buttons for the multiple choice questions were not where I placed them. (When viewing in edit mode, they were where they were supposed to be, only on publish did they jump)  I went and made sure that the bounding box and text boxes were all the same for the answers. After doing this, I then went to the Base Layer of the question, and this time the background was white, but set to 100% transparency. (previously white and  0% as shown in attached image background color incorrect) Which is in fact odd, that the only way to see this was when the file was published.

I think the working file may have some issues. I have had other issues in this file as well.

I can attach the file if you would still like to review it.

Hi Ian,

I appreciate you sharing your findings and how you were able to resolve the issue.

We have an open issue that we're looking into specific to the background color shifting in the published output when the slide background transparency is adjusted when using the Modern Player.

I've added this discussion to the report as we continue to track user impact and so that we can share any updates with you here.

Hello Ian!

I'm happy to return to this discussion with an update!

Storyline 360 Update 49 is live: We fixed the issue where the background color changes in published output in both Classic and Modern player.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug to us!
