Using a Hotspot interaction, I disabled the submit button from the player, and I inserted a custom submit button into the slide. I set a trigger on this button to submit the interaction. After choosing the correct Hotspot, the feedback results say "Incorrect". If I use the default submit button in the player it works, clicking on the correct Hotspot, I get the "Correct!" feedback.
I am attempting this work around on my own project, but now my interaction will not show up. It only shows the submit button. I'm not sure what to do. I included the Storyline file I'm using. It doesn't look like the final version, but all the functionality is still there.
Hi Rachel! If you take a look at your Submit layer and right click to see the properties, it appears that you have applied a solid fill, which is why you cannot see the items on the base layer.
I made the background transparent on the submit layer, and I can see the interaction. Unfortunately, the interaction doesn't work when I go to preview it. I can't click on anything.
Sorry, Leslie, I am a bit confused. You removed the Submit button, and it worked? Or you removed the background from the Submit button layer, and it worked? I did do a work around where I was able to get the Submit layer to show anytime a user clicked on a hot spot, but I would like it to work when the timeline starts, as it does in the example above. Is this possible?
Thank you for the attached file! Sadly, when I went into the original course file where the quiz is, I was not able to find a blank layout when I right clicked the background. It is also not in the Feedback Master. I have no idea how that happened. The quiz is in a question bank and not inside of a slide yet.
Thank you so much for your quick replies and repeated help! I'm sorry this is turning out to be more complicated than I originally thought.
Hi again, Leslie! I sent in a case with Articulate Support. I realized the complications got a bit too...complicated, for lack of a better word. Thank you for all your help! -Rachel

I removed it and had no issue. I do believe it is overlaying the base layer and that is why you cannot click on your interaction.

Hi Rachel! I apologize for the confusion. I took another look so I could explain, and found an easier way :)
If you select your Submit Layer, right click on background, go to Layout, and choose Blank.
Updated file attached.

Hi Rachel!
Thanks for letting me know. I see where you have submitted your support case (00642041) and it looks as if Abel is already assisting you.
