Buttons overlapping

Jun 10, 2019

I am trying to create buttons based on a pie chart, so the pieces of the pie are a triangular shape. The problem I am having is that the transparent part of the button is rectangular and overlapping the pieces of the pie next to it, so you will open the wrong layer if you do not click exactly right on the pie piece. Is there an easy way to fix this problem? [see attached file] (created in Storyline 360)Thanks for any help! ~Amber

Thanks so much, Wendy! I used the triangle shape and made it transparent. This solved the overlapping problem. I do not have the states set up and am not sure if I can add states without the viewer seeing that the shape is not an exact fit to the pie piece. Here is the final product in the hopes that it may help someone else with a similar issue: https://360.articulate.com/review/content/987916c7-5c9b-4caa-b80d-65e1911f6c33/review

Hi Amber

if you want different states for the pie pieces it might be easier to build a pie chart in PPT and then you could save out the pieces as images and give them different states. That way you could attach the trigger directly to the pie piece and wouldn't have to worry about the transparent shape over the top. Would be a bit more fiddly but it would allow you to do what you wanted to do.

Also, if you have photoshop you may be able to dissect the pie.

Below is image in PPT see how you can select the individual pieces - I know its not in 3d but you may be able to manipulate...depends what effort you want to put in to achieve what you want.

Sorry I'm not much help. I've attached a sample slide in your file using the Playbill headings - maybe a different design will be easier to help you achieve what you want.
