Change timeline from seconds to minutes?
May 22, 2013
So, I'm doing a lot of audio sync. I'm listening to the wav in Media Player, and I want i.e. an arrow to appear at 3:48. Is there a way to set the main timeline to display minutes and seconds, not only seconds? That way I don't have to calculate 180+48= 228 seconds. ALL other audio/video editors etc can change display from minutes, seconds, frames etc... Some can even show multiple time stamps. Ironically, if I open the audio file for edit, that editor displays minutes/seconds.
If this is not possible at present, it should be an easy fix for an upcoming upgrade.

Hi Sigurd - not available at present, but feel free to make a feature request.
Thanks
Bruce
Something I want too! But, there have been cases when I have changed 1s, 2s, 3s to 10s, 20s, 30s, accidentally, and have not idea how I did that.
Wish an official feature is available.
This thread is 3 years old now. Is this available yet?
Hi Arun,
The Timeline in all versions of Storyline is displayed in seconds, as opposed to minutes and seconds. Can you tell me more about what changed from "1s, 2s, 3s" to "10s, 20s, 30s"? Was it the increments on the timeline? If you had a very long timeline, it's possible that you zoomed out on the timeline.
Hello, I'm on a project that requires loads of syncing to audio along the timeline (using minutes and seconds format). As was mentioned above, this is an old feature request - so can only hope this has now been implemented?
Best,
Anthony
Hi Anthony!
The Storyline timeline is still displayed in seconds, but I can see how having the ability to toggle the display to minutes and seconds would be handy if you're syncing slide objects to audio or video. We're tracking this request, so I'll add your voice to our report!
Hello Alyssa,
Thanks for your reply. As you can imagine, working with 60+ audio
snippets, adding the time to make the calculations for each is a pretty big
hit to the workflow.
Timelines labeled in minutes and seconds is standard in most audio and
video applications. I can only hope this can be corrected in an update
soon.
All the best,
Anthony
Hello, I also support this request. This is a typical function in other video editors.
Same here. Minutes first then seconds for me as well. Thank you.
What I find ironic is that when using the edit video feature, that timeline is displayed in the minutes: seconds format, while the slide timeline is displayed in seconds only.
Pick a format, preferably minutes:sconds, and stick to it Articulate!
Please implement minute and seconds - agreed it is a standard for any audio video production. Thanks -L-
Thanks for chiming in to share your thoughts as well, Larry.
I've gathered some of these feature requests together so that the impact is represented and can be discussed.
I wanted to share some information about how we manage these feature requests as that may be helpful.
Just wanted to add my voice too. The seconds only timeline is not user friendly. Really need the ability to change it to min/seconds.
Just throwing my +1 for this feature into the ring.
Ohhh! I read the first request for this change is from 6 years ago! Please, implement this soon. It is very needed. :(
+1 for me too. I'm working on a 1380 second slide. I mean 23 minutes. (Now isn't that more clear?)
Yes, I need that as well. Makes adding multiple audio tracks synchronized difficult.
Almost 7 years and STILL no support on this issue!?
Maybe this is the comment that will make this happen? C'mon already!
Hi Leslie,
It's been 7 years since the original post, and the issue is still there. Are the tech guys completely forgot about us, the paying users or what? Come on, is this really an 1398 dollar software that comes with the support level of some randomly ordered electronic device from the far east???
Please let me know in which phase is this case in from the "how we manage these feature requests" list. Is it in phase 1, or 2, or 3? The Articulate community is waiting for you, please do not hesitate, your time has come to make a change! Take action Leslie, you can be our SUPERHERO, help us PLEASE!
We are expecting this small development within this decade (preferably in the year 2020 AD). Thanks for your help, in advance!

Hello there, Zsófi!
Thank you for contributing! I love your zest for this feature and will surface your thoughts with the right team.
We acknowledge that this idea has been discussed for years, and are committed to making sure its impact and benefit for the majority of folks come first. We also evaluate where a feature stands among planned new enhancements and bug fixes.
Though there are no plans for this concept right now, we'll keep tracking requests and let you know if anything changes!
Dear Katie,
Thanks for your quick answer, I really appreciate it!
Since I did not receive a reassuring answer to my (actually, to OUR) question, I will translate the amount of time passed since the original question was posted, to Articulate's unit, that is 220.752.000 seconds. I wonder though, how much more time you need to "make a plan for this concept?" :D
I'd also like to add my voice to this request with a +1. At the very least, allow the exact same time labeling between all media. Having to constantly take the additional time out to divide seconds by 60 to help synchronize with any other media, all of which displays minutes::seconds is a huge expenditure of time in an application that already makes some simple tasks take a lot of time (e.g. aligning elements along the timeline). Thanks!
Has there been a resolution to this? Looking for a simpler solution for multiple audio clips and icon additions.
And the echoes of non action reverberate 🙄
