You can copy master slides from one project into another. Follow these steps:
Go into the Storyline project you want to copy the master slides FROM. Go to Slide Master view, and right click on the Master Slide (the one at the very top) and Copy it.
Then go into the Storyline project you want to copy the master slides INTO. Go to Slide master view, and rick click in the slide column on the left. Click Paste. This will bring over your Slide Master from the first project, and all the other slides that go with it, but will also preserve your original Slides as well.
Is it possible to create a master slide in a new project, and then import content only from another project? I had someone create a template which we no longer want to use, but we do want to preserve the content.
Go to the Home tab, click the drop-down arrow beside New Slide, and choose Reuse Slides.
In the Reuse Slides panel, click the Browse button and choose Browse File.
Browse to your original PowerPoint file and click Open.
At the bottom of the Reuse Slides panel, mark the box to Keep source formatting.
Right-click the first slide in the Reuse Slides panel and select Insert All Slides.
Save the new presentation and republish.
Note: Articulate resources, such as audio and video, will need to be inserted again into the new presentation. You may need to export the narration from your original presentation, then import it into the new presentation.
Leslie, do you know how to do this without the imported slide master duplication? Specifically, when the slides are imported, their slide master(s) are imported also, even though there are already slide master(s) with the exact same naming in the storyline project I'm working in.
So sorry this is causing you headaches. We're seeing this happen in Storyline 360 when one project is imported into another project. Are you using Storyline 360?
Great news! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.
The item(s) you may be interested in are the fixes for:
Sometimes, variables would be missing when importing one Storyline project into another.
Each slide that was imported from another Storyline project had its own separate slide master. Now all slides from the same imported project belong to a single slide master.
Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
Please let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
You'd need to copy those items from one slide to another, there isn't a method to merge two slides, although we'd be happy to consider that as a feature request!

I used Nicole's instructions to copy master slides from one project to another. However, images on master slides did not transition in the paste.
Is there a newer set of instructions that would successfully transfer the images placed on master slides?
Thanks for sharing this with us! I'm noticing the same on my end, so I've filed this as a bug so that our team can begin investigating.
In the meantime, I've found the workaround is copying the slide objects rather than the Slide Master seems to work. We'll keep you updated on the progress of this bug in this discussion.

Hi Moira!
You can import the content from another project.

Thanks Leslie. I want to do it in Articulate Storyline (I know how to do it in PowerPoint). Does the same process apply?
Oh my goodness Moira, I apologize. Must have had Presenter on the brain!
Here's how to import slides from other Articulate Storyline courses.

Is this fixed in Storyline 3 as well?
Thanks!
Hi Cheryl! The update that Ashley shared above is specifically for Articulate 360.
Do you have a similar issue in a Storyline 3 course? When this issue was reported, we were unable to replicate in Storyline 3.
Can you import a slide master from .pptx into a storyline 360 master? Can't figure out, thanks
Hi Susan,
When you import just one slide from a PowerPoint file into Storyline, all of the slide master layouts come along with that slide.
It sounds like that's not happening with your import, can you confirm you're following these steps for importing from Powerpoint?
Hi,
I would like to merge two master slides, in order to keep the variables and triggers that they have.
Is that possible?
Thanks!
