Custom navigation buttons freezing when published to web

Apr 28, 2017

Hello everyone. We have made custom forward and back buttons that appear on every slide in our projects. When I preview in SL2, they work as designed - all the way forward and all the way back. When I publish and view in my LMS (Buzz), some of the buttons don't work. I notice it mostly on the "back" buttons (they just display the slide immediately prior). I've tested in 4 different browsers (Chrome, Firef0x, Safari, and Edge.) I've copied and pasted the scenes into a completely new SL2 file. For some reason, all of the timelines in this file had been pushed out to 188 seconds (WHOA!) and I spent some time shortening them - all to no avail. The even crazier thing is that this is the ONLY course that we have developed that this is happening with. Other courses made by me and other colleagues and published with the exact same settings to the same LMS in the same manner do NOT display this behavior. I'm at a loss about what to try next. If anyone has any ideas, I'd be eternally grateful.

Hi Erin,

Oh no! Sorry you've hit this roadblock. Let's get this sorted out.

You mentioned that you published the file for Web, but you're testing it in a learning management system. Instead, try publishing the file for LMS and test it in SCORM Cloud. It's industry standard, and that will tell you whether the issue is within the file or not. If you'd like help testing in SCORM Cloud, shoot us a copy of your file here!

Hey Erin!

Thanks for letting us know you're running into these issues, sorry you hit them! That does sound like strange behavior.

Are you working locally as described here or from a network drive? Working from a network drive has been known to cause some wonky behavior in project files.

Try importing your slides into a new file from the original rather than copy/pasting them to see if that resolves the timeline extending issue you're running into.

Let us know if you still run into the custom navigation button issue after importing into a new file and republishing for LMS as Alyssa suggested!
