I can not figure out why this is not working - I've included a trigger to Exit the Course when the button is clicked on. When I preview it, it works fine. When I run it from our server, nothing happens when I click on the button to exit.
Would somebody be so kind as to take a look at this 3-slide .story file and tell me how to correct this?
Yes, you can remove yourself from any further emails. Be sure to pop into the forum conversation and scroll to the top, then click where it shows you Subscribed.
Hi, using Storyline 3 I set the player to open in new window and republished the course but the Exit Course Button does not respond. Actually it doesn't even open in a new browser and does not show the launch screen, it just opens the course. I haven't seen any other suggestions around to correct this problem. Opening the course in Chrome. Any OTHER suggestions please please?
We're happy to figure out what is causing this behavior! It sounds like the course is set to launch in a new window, but it's not opening in a new browser window. The exit course button isn't working either.
Are you viewing the course on a web server or LMS?
Here's my test. At the end of the screen recording, I've selected the Close Course button, and it's working as expected. Are you using an updated version of Chrome?
I think I'm using the current version of Chrome:

That's great that Exit Course is working on your site. Hmmm...what could be
happening?
I look forward to your response and thanks so much for responding.
Daniel.
Thanks for adding those details! I am also using a Macbook Pro, so I'm not sure if that is the cause. Can you try hosting the course on Tempshare to see if the Exit Button works when the course is hosted somewhere different?
I've uploaded it to Tempshare and it does close the course although it does
not start with a launch page. Also, I have cleared the Chrome browser
numerous times. Also, I tried it on Chrome in the Safari, the Parallels
Windows 11 Chrome and on the Microsoft Edge. I suspect it may be something
about my Macbook Pro but who knows.
Here's the link if you'd like to see it in Tempshare:
Thanks for the update! Good to know that the Close Course button works in that environment. It looks like a portion of the URL is missing. Can you link it again, please?
Hi again.
Since I am unable to get the course to open in a new window and
subsequently I am unable to use the 'Exit Course' button, I was wondering
if this suggestion from the 'Heroes' page might work but I'm not sure how
to 'add the target attribute to my HTML hyperlinks. Can you possibly give
me a hint where I would add that? Is it somewhere within Storyline 3?
Thanks again. Daniel.
Open Web Links in New Browser Tabs
If you don't use Storyline's "launch player in new window" feature (above),
you can still set your web links to open in a new browser tab or window. To
do so, add the target attribute to your HTML hyperlinks. Here's an example:
It looks like that link is still missing the end portion. I had a colleague who uses a 2021 MacBook Pro test the link, and it worked in Chrome but not Safari. I've opened a case on your behalf with our Support Engineers, and they'll continue troubleshooting with you via email.

Here's a quick Peek 360 video.
I've done that thank you for the instructions,

Thanks for the quick response.
I'm just running it from my own website that I maintain. I think I did
everything I'm supposed to to get it to close, but alas it's not. It's at:
http://einsteinacademy.ca/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Nutrition%20with%20Shiva/story.html
if you'd like to see it. I'm just working on it now., and the Close Course
button is right on page 2, but no response.
I await your comments and thanks so much.
Daniel.
Did you want to see the .story file as well?
Daniel.

Hi again.
Strangely, the Exit Course doesn't work on my Safari as well. I have a 2021
MacBook Pro if that's relevant.
Thanks,
Daniel.

You might consider clearing your browser cache as well.
Thanks for your prompt response.

Sorry. I have no clue how to get back to the uploaded file. Should I
re-upload it?
Nonetheless, even though it does work on the Tempshare it still does not
seem to work on any of my browsers for some bizarre reason!
Any clue would be appreciated. Not sure how to proceed or be certain that
it's working for everyone else except me.
Thanks,
Daniel.
OK. Here's the new link.
