How do I resize Try Mode once it is inserted on slide?

Jul 19, 2023

Hi! I am using Storyline 360 - v3.77.30587.0 and am successful at recording my screen -> inserting as -> Video in single file, but then when I try to go through the process of converting it to Try Mode, it places each 'piece' on the new slides at a smaller size. The slide size needs to remain 1920 X 1080, I just can't figure out how to get the Try Mode slides (screen area) to fit the entire slide size.

We have been having to use Adobe Captivate for our demos and try its and then importing those into SL, which is a pain!

These are the articles we have already referenced and tried (but there is nothing more recent than those I could find):

Thank you,

Hello Kalin,

Thanks for reaching out!

It looks like you need to resize videos that were created using a third-party application. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to resize videos in Storyline 360, but you can download an application called Handbrake to change the resolution of your videos. Check out this article to know more about how to use Handbrake's video resizing feature.

Additionally, you'll want to make sure the resolution of your Adobe Captivate screen recordings match the slide size of your Storyline 360 project to get the best display possible.

Let me know if you have any questions!

I'm having the exact same issue.  I recorded my video at 1920x1080 (even confirmed before I started recording) and now the video appears significantly smaller on my slide after importing the video as Try Mode slides.  I tried resizing the slide to 1920x1080 manually and nothing happens.

What's wild is that I recorded another video using the exact same steps and I didn't run into this issue.  I'm not sure why it is happening now when it didn't happen before.

Hello Ashley,

Sorry to hear that you ran into a similar issue. When importing your screen recording video that has a resolution of 1920x1080 into your Storyline 360 project, try first adjusting the slide size of the course to match the video to see if this helps. You'll want to ensure that the resolution of your media files closely matches the slide size of the course as much as possible. See this article for more details.

If matching the sizes doesn't work, please share a copy of your project file here or in private by opening a support case so we can take a closer look at what's happening. We'll delete it when we're done testing!

Thank you for the response, Jose.  I found that if I imported the video as the first scene in a project, I was able to adjust the slide size without issue.  However, if I imported a video into a project that already had a scene in it, I was NOT able to adjust the slide size (even after deleting the existing scene).

I feel like this is a good enhancement request for y'all :) but until then I'll just make sure to import my video first and add additional scenes after.
