Not enough resources to save, and random crashing

Nov 02, 2012

Hello all,

I have recently been experiencing a series of issues on a Storyline file 2MB in size. Working only on a C drive, I have tried this file on WinXP Dell & Lenovo laptop maxed at 4gigs of RAM, and a Win8 desktop at 10gigs of RAM. Why when saving, does my system show 20% of resources running but the file will not save and presents the error "not enough resources to save"?

Troubleshooting we've tried:

  • Switching operating systems with more RAM
  • Disabled WinDVD on the Dell & Lenovo with no success.
  • Performed a Storyline repair to fix the most recent issue of being able to insert video but not the try it.

Is there potentially another issue going on that I'm unaware of? Anyone experience the same sort of thing and found a solution? I'm happy to upload my file somewhere if it would help to see if it's the file that has problems.

I have missed a deadline of two weeks ago just trying to fix this problem so I might have to buy someone candy if you help me with this issue.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

issue is storyline is a 32 bit app so regardless of how much ram you have, it's not using it.  checkout these threads for same issue (and potential resolution).

i have used a program called ntcore that converts the 32 bit exe to allow it to take advantage of 4 gigs of ram.  i am sure this is in no way support by articulate by it has worked amazing.  before the program always crashed when it hit 900 mb ram.  i have had it hit as high as 1.8 gigs usage without crashing (yet).

keep in mind, this will only work if you have x64 windows.

Let me know if i can help further.

Thank you Tom. This makes perfect sense to me. I wonder why when I'm on my Win8 PC with 10gigs of RAM I watch in task manager it will only use 22% of my memory while trying to save (storyline being around 700mbs of that). I couldn't figure out why it would go higher trying to use 100%. I'll try this at home.

As for the office. I of course have to wait for them to approve this patch.

But I really appreciate your post!!

I'm sending you candy in my mind.
