Picture on Slide Delayed Appearance for 4 Seconds with No Explanation

Aug 11, 2017

Storyline360:  This seems to be a simple bug occurring, but I've yet to find a solution to prevent its occurrence.

I have a slide that has a Picture appear at 0 seconds right as the timeline begins.  Instead of appearing, the screen is blank and it then appears after about 4-5 seconds.  This occurs after publishing ONLY. Preview works correctly.  It's become very frustrating as I normally find workarounds when bugs occur.

Also, the issue does not occur when I insert a shape at the beginning of the timeline, the shape shows up fine but the photo still does not show until 4-5 seconds.

I've tried these things with none of them resolving the issue:

-  Use Pasted Screenshot instead of inserting photo file

- Insert new blank slide and copy all content from old slide

- Move photo just inside timeline to .25s or .5 s

- Remove entrance animation from photo

- Remove Motion path from photo (it does a slow pan)

- Have previous slide advance with next instead of automatically

- Some other things I can't remember.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Hey Chris!

I'm so sorry this is slowing down your workflow. I haven't seen this issue reported before, and I'm happy to dig into it with you!

I did a quick test on my end and wasn't able to reproduce what you're describing, so I'll need your help to get to the bottom of it here. I have a couple questions to start with:

  1. Can you share a file that you're seeing this in? You can add your unpublished .story project file as an attachment right to a comment.
  2. Are you running the latest update for Storyline 360? Here's how to check.
  3. Are your files saved to your local computer (C:Drive or Desktop) rather than to a shared/network drive?

Thanks for letting us know about this, and be sure to keep me posted!
