Print Results Score and Grade Book Score Discrepancies

Oct 09, 2015

I modified the report.html file in my Storyline course to only show the student name, date completed, and grade. What I have found is that there are a small number of discrepancies between the grade listed on the print results page and what is recorded in the LMS grade center (I use Blackboard). For example, the print results will show that a student earned 78% while the grade in Blackboard displays 51%. What is making me crazy is that this is not a universal problem - it has only happened with a hand full of students out of over 1,000.

Does anyone have any explanation for why this may be happening? Also which grade is more likely to be correct?

This is a link to view the code I use for the report.html file: https://lmu.box.com/s/hb37w5kzddi5txwq2pgodae9uadoipmc

Hi Lindsey,

Do you know if the users who are running into the issue are accessing through a particular browser? Are they taking the course more than once or reattempt questions, therefore impacting their score? In the latter scenario, does Blackboard only allow for the first attempt through a quiz or at a question?

Do you have a copy of the course where you didn't modify the report.html? Perhaps uploading that one and having the same users run through it would help indicate if it was an issue in how you adjusted the code? Another good testing option is to look at viewing the course in SCORM Cloud as it's an industry standard for testing SCORM content.  You can review some troubleshooting tips here for LMS issues as well.
