Problems opening storyline project on different laptops

My colleague and I are working on a storyline project.  When she has finished her bit she drop-boxes the project to me.  I open it in storyline. 

The problem is that the alignment of some objects on certain slides is wrong.  My colleague has, say, inserted a rectangle in a space between text and when I open the project the rectangle is covering the text.

My questions are:

What is causing this?

Are there standard Storyline settings that we can both set on our laptops to?
