Question on cerating a test

Apr 20, 2017

I created a test - what I would like it to do is that if a student begins taking the test and decides to leave (close the browser) I want it to fail the student - and I do not want them allowed to retake.

Is this possible? It seems it allows you to relaunch from the beginning of the test or begin where you left off depending on the setting in storyline - I just want them to fail if they leave the test - any ideas? BTW it is a timed test

Hi there Kevin,

Which reporting options did you choose in the reporting and tracking options?

  • Passed/Incomplete
  • Passed/Failed
  • Completed/Incomplete
  • Completed/Failed

For your scenario, it sounds like Passed/Failed will work best. The status of the course can change from Passed/Failed to Incomplete if the LMS is resetting the course results on an additional attempt, and that's not something driven solely by Storyline. I know many LMS's have a setting that will prevent the user from relaunching a course after the completion status is sent.

You may also want to look at testing the course at SCORM Cloud to compare it to how it behaves in your LMS.

Let me know if that helps!
