My students are reporting that when reviewing a quiz now that they go fine reviewing answers then a question will cause the whole module to freeze up. This happened to me as well when testing. It is has happened on multiple modules. Very frustrating for them and me as the quizzes are usually at the end of the module and they must redo it all. Please help as I do not want to lose this means of learning.
I will ask them more questions when I have class again - school canceled for cold weather. However - it sounded like it was on the review primarily and different questions. When it happened for me it was on the microscope quiz review and the stage question.
Hope you're staying warm – that polar vortex is no joke!
We've seen some problems with Storyline crashing/freezing during quiz review since Update 23, and I'm afraid you and your students may be running into that issue.
You could try installing a previous version (Update 22), and then republish the course. That should help you get around the issues until we get them sorted out.
I am trying to saying this respectfully while letting Articulate know the true impact of this new problem on its users-
It really would have been nice to be notified that you were seeing some problems with the new quiz review feature! This was a MAJOR hassle for myself and my students who were trying to use the module to study for a test only to have it repeatedly crash and need to start over! On the NIGHT BEFORE the test! It really impacted their learning and their frustration levels! It also seemed to happen on a high enough frequency level that it really should have been caught before being rolled out to everyone. It makes it appear that Articulate is using its customers as their test subjects instead of fully vetting their rollouts themselves - which is not nice to say the least. I love to see new features in Articulate but I, like all, only want them WHEN THEY CONSISTENTLY WORK. This feature was at the center of the update so there is no reason for it not to be fully tested. At the very least, when Articulate first realizes it has a problem with the rollout - common decency would demand that customers should be notified IMMEDIATELY so that they can take steps to avoid it AND PREVENT THEM FROM SPENDING TIME INCORPORATING THE NEW FEATURE ONLY TO MAKE THEIR EXISTING WORKING PROJECT - be made UNWORKABLE.
Please communicate this. 7 months ago I contacted Articulate with another problem with a rollout that caused many hours of unnecessary work and frustration. PLEASE limit your rollouts to WELL TESTED and ERROR FREE improvements. Again, this last problem was so frequent and so blatant, it makes it appear as if you are using your clients as test subjects. At the very least, I expect to be treated respectfully as a customer by being notified of potential problems in a timely manner (as opposed to not at all). You can cost me $$$$ of time and still I pay the same premium price for the service. Doesn't seem right to me.
I am truly disappointed in Articulate - although I have appreciated and enjoyed my interactions with Articulate in many ways, I feel my loyalty and the loyalty of all others has been met with disrespect in these regards. It is especially frustrating as it would be so easily remedied.
I'm sorry that you had to deal with this regression in update 23, and that it had such a tremendous impact on your learners.
The issue where the quiz freezes on or before the results slide when there are question banks and multiple attempts at the quiz is scheduled to be fixed in the next update of Storyline 360.
Hi there, Robin. Update 25 addresses the issue with courses freezing when retrying a quiz that uses a question bank. I'm not sure if your particular file was sent to us for testing, but I'm happy to have a look to see if this update resolved the freezing you were experiencing. You mentioned it seemed to happen randomly during quiz reviews, rather than retries.
You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done testing.
Thanks for reaching out, and great call to open a support case! It looks like you're in good hands with our Support Team, and Renz has replied back with some next steps.
Let us know if you have any questions about what he sent!
Have a new version of an old module that I redid the quiz results slide for - and the review quiz button continues to lead to crashing/freezing the course. The previous help was to revert to a previous version of Articulate but I am so many versions past that now. I don't want to get another problem. Is there something else I should be doing?
Thanks, Wendy, however, when I previewed it, I still had the same problem - it froze when going from the first question review to the second. There was a spinning circle for the cursor which never allowed you to press on the next button. Ideas?
I published and loaded into Scormcloud. I could review from first to second question it was on the second to third that it froze for me. I notice you have random draw on in the bank...this slide is the one I had an issue moving from - is it the same for you - it may be corrupt and I would suspect it is most likely the images.

Hi Robin,
I'm sorry to hear you and your students are getting stuck! Does the course freeze on a question slide? If so, does it always freeze on the same slide?
Also, does this only happen during quiz review (after the quiz is complete)?

I'll let you know here as soon as it's ready.
Does today's update solve this problem with reviewing the quiz or is it only retrying the quiz? Thank you.

Hello,
I am now finding that this is happening with some of the users taking the course. Has this been fixed or do you have any suggestions?

Hi Robin
there was an issue with the show layer triggers they are showing under the Player in the trigger panel, instead of under the Slide triggers
I deleted them and recreated them in the attached file. See if it behaves now
