I use right-click in my software simulations. When I test it in preview mode it works correctly. When the Story is published the right-click option doesn't always work. I can't see any real pattern in when it works and when it doesn't.
Is there some combination of Flash/Browser that is required or some publishing settings for the right-click trigger to work reliably?
my problem is similar to those above: I have a right click included in a simulation. In the preview, it works fine. Being published to my local hard drive, it does not work. Unfortunately, we neither have an LMS nor do we have the possibility to publish the course to a server. Our customers get the courses via USB and cannot use a serve either.
Is there any possibility to make this right click work without having a server, an LMS or anything like that?
I've been trying to use Tempshare to upload and test my Storyline output for a few days now. Every time I drag my zipped file into the Tempshare box, it is simply downloaded and placed in the Downloads folder on my computer. Any ideas on why the website is not allowing me to upload the file to the server?
What browser are you using to try to upload to Tempshare? I haven't seen that type of behavior before within Tempshare - but I'd look at trying different browsers and to see if you have any browser restrictions that are causing this behavior. I typically use Chrome and Firefox and haven't run into that set up when trying to upload files.
I've been using Google Chrome and Internet Explorer, and this behavior is replicated on both. I have also asked the IT department at my office to look into this issue since I suspect it may have something to do with my browser settings. I should hopefully find a solution soon. If not, I will share a screencast of the issue with you.
my issue - as simple as insert a hotspot and set the trigger to advance to the next slide when user rightclicks... it's a built in trigger so not sure why there is a problem. It doesn't work in preview nor when I publish for CD as an executable.

You may find that right-click triggers aren't currently working in Flash output.
We're investigating this issue and will post additional information here as it becomes available.
In the meantime, we recommend viewing the HTML5 version of your course if right-click triggers are required. You can force the HTML5 output to launch by default by linking directly to the story_html5.html file in your published output (rather than the story.html file). The CD publish will only be Flash output - so that method won't work if you need to publish for CD.
Help. Is this issue STILL ongoing. When published to SCORM 1.2 and after chaning the manifest to launch in HTML5 the right cliek does work, but now we can't get the course to talk completion with the LMS! Any ideas...please:-)
This issue is still with our QA team for review so I don't have an update to share at this time. Does the LMS you're uploading it to support HTML5 content? What browser are you viewing the content in?
If you'd like to connect with our Support engineers we can discuss reverting to update 4 with you in regards to the right click triggers.
I found the answer here for what I was originally seeing (right-click not working in simulation) and applied it. I published the story to an LMS and it works!...
...only if the browser is using Flash. If Flash is disabled and I'm viewing in HTML5, right-click doesn't work. Curiouser and curiouser...
Thanks for reaching out here - are you viewing the content within one of the supported HTML5 browsers? I would want to confirm that element first, as I know the documented fix was noted for Flash output here but I hadn't seen indication that it didn't work in HTML5. Also, it's worth noting the fix mentioned only was associated with the base layer, the right click option still does not work on the slide layers.
I'm having this issue too, but in preview mode. Is there any solution to this yet? I'll change a hotspot to regular (left) click to show the next page, preview, and it works. Then I change it back to "When the user right clicks" and preview, and it goes no where. Again, it's a software simulation, so it would be great if we could figure this out. Thanks.
The trigger IS on the second layer, or rather the first layer after the main page. There are 6 extra layers attached to that page and this trigger is supposed to go to the next layer.
Since this is something our QA Team is still investigating, do you have a .story file that you could share privately here for us to take a look or would you just like me to add this thread for user awareness?
Here it is. Good Luck. I'm guessing looking at this will not inspire a solution, but if you happen to see anything that I might try, please advise. Thanks.
I don't know if you've discovered this yet, but I found that my right click function is on the second layer of the page. When I moved it to the main page, it worked. Apparently, right click functionality doesn't work on secondary layers. Does this help?

Happy to help Ryan, and glad that worked for you. Tempshare is my favorite way to test, because it's just so easy!
Hi everyone,
Can any of you let me know if there is a way to disable/lock the right click in storyline?

Hi Vidhu and welcome to Heroes!
Could you provide a bit more information on what you're looking to set up and how you'd like it to behave?

Hi Angelika,
How are you publishing the course? You'll want to ensure you've published for CD or another local source as described here.

Hi Ryan!
Is your trigger on a layer perhaps? I know that I've seen that issue reported to our QA Team, but I do not have an update to provide at this time.

This whole thing is pretty big, I'll try to isolate the page with the issue as it's own .story and attach it here.
That I appreciate :)
