Seekbar unlock after learner views slide?

Dec 21, 2017

Hello!

I'd like to unlock the seek bar after a learner views a slide, so that if they want to review it they can freely. I can't seem to figure out how to "hide" the seek bar with a hot spot so I can apply a trigger.

Is there another way to do this by chance? I want the seek bar locked upon first watching the slide, then unlocked after that slide is completed.

Thanks much!!

Hey Melissa!

Thanks for letting us know how we can improve the player seekbar to work better for you courses. We have a feature request for: Read-Only seekbar with restricted navigation, but to give learners the option to drag the seekbar when a slide is revisited.

Does that sound similar to what you would like to see? I'll add this thread to our feature request report, as we track user impact and so that we can update here when we can.

Hey, Melissa! I'm excited to let you know that update 21 for Storyline 360 is here! What's inside?

Please welcome the Conditional Seekbar in the Modern Player! You can use this new feature to prevent learners from skipping ahead until they've completed a slide. The seekbar is locked the first time learners view the slide. After that, they can drag the seekbar back and forth.

Plus many more goodies; check out all the new features and fixes here! 🎁

Here's how to update Storyline 360 to see everything the latest release has to offer. Thanks again for asking for such a feature – excited to hear your thoughts!

Hi Karthikprasad,

The Conditional Seekbar is an exclusive feature of the Modern Player and is not an option on the Classic Player. You'll have to select the options to allow drag or make the seekbar read-only. This article below provides details on how to use this in the Modern Player if you'd like!

That is frustrating.  I have clients that have many course built in the classic player that I have heavily customized to match their branding but they require a conditional seekbar.  The modern player albeit very nice is very restrictive when it comes to customizing the player.  You would be surprised how many times i have had to switch to Captivate for a client just because of this feature request they have.  I understand that the classic player is written in an older code base which I suspect is obsolete so asking for this player to get any updates is a stretch but could we go the other way and give us more customization options in the modern player?  Colors.  Button designs.  etc?

Or create some player widgets we can use to create our own players.  Now that would be cool.

Hi Graham,

I appreciate the additional insight into customizing the Modern Player. We have an active feature request for just that, and I'll be sure to add your thoughts to the report, as well as our team, particularly around the branding and conditional seekbar requests you receive!

We don’t have currently have plans for this feature in our roadmap, but we’ll remain active in our tracking of this request and be sure to update this discussion if anything changes!
