Seeking advice: Roulette Wheel as a Main Menu

Jul 03, 2023

Hello Articulate Community:

I am creating an interactive lesson for a Case Study on Casinos highlighting LEAN project management. I am seeking design advice for using a Roulette Wheel as a Main Menu. I have the components done: Wheel of 12 slices, hotspots to jump to 12 scenes. Changed state to add a checkmark when visited.  It spins.

It feels clumsy. The color scheme feels busy. 12 slices are overwhelming. I can make these changes, but I wonder if you can make suggestions to make it more enticing.

Thank you.Main Menu

Listen to your gut: 12 slices is too much here to present to learners unless you want them to feel overwhelmed and overloaded cognitively.

Looking at your 12 options, I would regroup them like this:

  • Background
  • Implementation
  • Goals

Then a second module:

  • Day 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Then a third:

  • Pillars
  • Results
  • Metropolis
  • Appendix

The reason that 12 is too much is exactly why you're having trouble with it: It overloads the learner's attention.

Having said that, using a different design approach should make your overall project easier to manage, as well as far more user-friendly.

Good luck!
