Storyline 1 converted files won't Preview or Publish

Feb 27, 2015

Hello,

Need a bit of help. I just upgraded to Storyline 2 and converted some of my Storyline 1 files. They won't preview and also will not publish in the new format.

Also, my Storyline 1 will not open due to the Flash 10 notice, but when I download the Storyline 1 fix, it says that it cannot recognize the installed version and won't upgrade.

I know, 2 separate issues, but I'm working on a deadline and need some sort of fix for either. I'd prefer being able to convert the files to Storyline 2 if someone can help with that issue.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi Teddy,

Is it only the upgraded files that are showing this behavior? Have you confirmed that you're working locally as detailed here. You may want to look into the repair of Storyline as well.

In regards to the issue with Storyline 1, if you're unable to install the update it may be easier to troubleshoot that with our Support team here.

Ashley,

Thank you for your reply. I think I have it figured out. The converted files will not automatically preview and publish, but if I import the converted file into a new file it works just fine.

If that works out for all of my previous courses, then i won't have to worry about trying to fix the Storyline 1 issue.

I appreciate your help.

Hi Logan,

Are you using Storyline 1 or 2? If a file has become corrupt, there may be another version of the file accessible on your system. Here's how to check:

1) Open this folder in Windows Explorer:

%appdata%\Articulate\Storyline

2) Scan the contents of this folder for a file that starts with the name of your project. If you find one, copy it to your desktop. If you find more than one, copy the latest version to your desktop.

3) Change the file extension of the copy on your desktop from *.tmp to *.story.

4) Double-click the file to open it in Storyline.
