Storyline 3.5 Keeps Crashing Whenever I Paste Navigation Buttons

Apr 19, 2019

Hello,

I am creating a title that does not use the player and has its own navigation. I am just using a text field as a navigation button (i.e., Next, Previous). Whenever I try to paste the navigation text from one slide to another, the program crashes.

I don't like putting the navigation on the master slide because the Previous button always goes to the slide that you were currently on last, so a learner cannot click Previous to page backward through a course (it would be if you enabled developers to be able to set this as a preference, as you can do with most other programs). I also don't like using the default table of contents since I find it looks terrible.

Is there a workaround or a fix for this? If not, can you please fix this in your next update.

Thank you.

Hi Peter! I'm sorry that's happening. I'm able to paste a typical text box with navigation triggers from one slide to another in my instance of Storyline 3.

  • Is this happening in more than one project file?
  • Is there any special formatting or other triggers tied to the "Next" text box?

If you're seeing this behavior with more than one file, let's start with a repair of Storyline 3. Let me know the answers to the above if that doesn't work!
