Strange error with text on layers when zoomed?

Sep 20, 2022

I have noticed an error with a long term project I have been developing. Essentially you click next and a layer pops up with a message. When viewed in a browser at 100% zoom, the text on the layer shows as it should but when the broswer is zoomed in more than this, it appears to mess with the spacing of the text on the layer once 'next' is clicked.

I have stripped the project down to just the test slide I have attached and it is still doing the error once it is published to either Review 360 or as a SCORM package.

I have attached 2 screenshots showing what I mean, one with the browser zoom at 100%, one with it at 175%.

As you might be able to tell, I am new to the software, so it is likely something I have done wrong - any advice is welcome.

Hello everyone!

I have some great news to share. We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Build 3.80.30988.0, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the bugs we've fixed is:

  • Text in shapes with a zoom animation could have spacing issues

Launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer to take advantage of this update, and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.

Please let me know if you need additional help!

Hi Dan,

Sorry to hear that you ran into this snag!

I was also able to replicate the behavior on my end.

I tested the behavior on an older version of Storyline 360 (Update 62), and it looks like this issue has been present for a few versions now. I went ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf so we can take a closer look at what's happening. Someone from our team will be in touch with you shortly to troubleshoot further!

I still haven't heard back from anyone so opened up another ticket.

In the meantime I have found exactly what is causing this for anyone who happens to come across this issue and this thread.

The issue with the text boxes was caused with animations. It seemed to be when I had the animation 'zoom' but only with the option 'slide centre'. I have no idea why it would cause this to happen but that's what was doing it.

Hopefully this can lead to a fix :)

I have just come across exactly the same problem and also narrowed it down to the animations on layers when I was using a zoom from the centre of the layer.

When using a browser that is on a higher zoom the text becomes squashed and unreadable!

I was able to use a workaround by using a transition on the layer instead of the individual animations but this would not be feasible if you only wanted to animate specific objects on a layer!
