Syncing Video with Animations Using the Player Seekbar

Hi All-

I've read a few threads on this, but at least to my knowledge there does not seem to be a fix so I thought I would re-post in case I am missing something.

We have inserted MP4 videos from files onto every one of our slides. We do not have the video controls enabled. We would like to use the player controls in order to pause/play video and to allow seeking. We have shapes, words, etc. coming onto the slide to be cued with the video when each topic is being discussed.

All of this works fine until the learner uses the seekbar and then the video's audio does not match up with the animations coming onto the slide. Is there a fix for this or is there currently nothing that can be done?

Good Afternoon, Nathan.

We have been able to duplicate your issue and have submitted this behavior to our Quality Assurance team for their review.  Unfortunately, I was unable to determine a workaround.  I cannot offer a time frame for when or if this issue will be resolved, but we will keep this Forum Thread updated with any developments.

Thanks for asking!

I'm sorry for any lack of clarity, Nathan.

You're not doing anything wrong or failing to follow best practices.  In my judgement, this appears to be a software defect within Storyline, and the problem is currently in the hands of our Quality Assurance Team for further investigation.  We'll let you know if and when the problem is resolved.

Hi all,

I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 8 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here. The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixed an issue where a video would no longer be synced with the slide's timeline after using the seekbar to scrub back and forth through the video. You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.

Let us know if you have any questions, either here or by reaching out to our Support Engineers directly.
