The seekbar

Oct 20, 2014

I am publishing a file with a number of videos in it. Only a handful of the slides have videos and I would like these to have view only seekbars.

Is it possible to have only a handful of slides with seekbars?

At the minute all the slides have one and this is very off putting. I thought it might be possible to hide it? Does anyone know if thats possible or do they have another clever way of ensuring the seekbar only appears on the slides I want it to?

Hi Andrew,

Within SL1 you can choose to remove the seekbar on a slide by slide basis using the slide properties as shown here:

And here are the directions for SL2,  also within the slide properties - but there is the added element of creating a "read only seekbar" in the sense that it's visible but the user can't click on it or scrub it - that feature is a whole course setting.

Thanks Ashley that works wonderfully and is so simple.

The only problem is that I have put in pause buttons at various points on the timeline that pause the video and open another layer. The trigger for the layer pauses the main timeline.

The layer contains additional information about what the video is showing. Once the learners have read the content they press a return button which takes them back to the main slide and the video continues where it left off. Thus keeping the learner in control of what they want to view.

When these layers open a seperate seekbar appears. There is absolutly no need for these slidebars on the additional layers. Is there any way to keep the seekbar on the main slide but remove it on the layers?

Is there any way to create a trigger for the seekbar?

I am now having the issue that when someone restarts the video using the seekbar the old layer remains open.

I did have a button to hide the layer and return to the base layer but I can see people simply using the seekbar. This keeps the layer open and makes it impossible for users to interact with the base layer.

Hi Andrew,

There aren't any triggers associated with the seekbar, although you're always welcome to share your thoughts on that in the form of a feature request.

You may want to share a sample of what you've got set up here and the community may be able to weigh in with other thoughts or ideas in regards to how you may design this.
