Timeline becomes unclickable during editing

Apr 16, 2019

Hi Heroes,

Hoping you can help me figure something out. Every once in awhile, while editing, I lose the ability to play, stop, pause, or do anything with my timeline. The buttons become unclickable and I have to close the program. I'm not sure if this is something I am doing or not? Has anyone else had this issue? I've attached a screenshot.

Hi there, Nyla. Sorry you've come across this!

This behavior has been a tough one for us nail down since it happens inconsistently. Could you share a few details about your setup:

  • What version of Windows are you using?
  • Does this happen in any project file or one in particular?

While we continue to investigate, any one of these workarounds should enable those buttons:

  • Save, close Storyline 3 or Storyline 360, and restart.
  • Switch between scenes and slides.
  • Zoom in and out of the timeline.

Any insight into your environment will help, and I'll keep you posted with any new information on this issue!

Hi Katie,

I am using Storyline 360 on Windows 10.  It happens in any project of mine. I have tried pinpointing when it happens and it seems to occasionally occur when I copy and paste something. But it also happens randomly.

I do tend to restart when it happens, but I will try some of the other fixes you've shared, too. Thank you!

Hi everyone,

Good news! We fixed the issue you reported where the:

Timeline preview buttons become disabled while working on a file

Be sure to install the latest Storyline 360 update to take advantage of all the recent features and fixes.

If the problem happens again, please record a Peek 360 screencast for me, and I'll be happy to help or you can always work directly with our support engineers here.
