Timeline pauses, but audio does not when hidden in tab

Previously, when someone had their training in another tab, the timeline (and everything on the timeline including audio) would pause. Now, the audio plays when in a different tab, while the timeline pauses - meaning the person could listen to a whole slide, but not be able to proceed when opening the tab again. I prefer to have both pause when the presentation is in another tab as it was before. The trainings are uploaded into our LMS using SCORM exports - this is a recent issue as I tested this on older trainings I created last year and they are working as expected.
I tested with two different newly created Storylines files as well as exporting as SCORM 1.2 and 2004 - it was an issue for all.
I didn't see any current support tickets for this - only ones from 2-4 years ago.

This is happening to me as well. As you mentioned, older items (some from late last year) pause for me as expected.

We dropped the newest version for Storyline 360: Update 38!
This version includes a fix for an issue in Storyline 360 where the seekbar would pause when opening a new browser tab while media played in the background.
