I was taking a look at one of our lessons in the html5 format and the space to drop from a word bank is not appearing. This is locally and in our live university. The output is Storyline 2. I have attached a screenshot. This wasn't the case with Stoyline 1 so I am not sure what is going on. I tried to re-publish and received the same results. Thanks.
I cannot re-create this in a new file. It appears to occur in all of my lessons that were converted from 1 to 2. I am using the latest version of Storyline 2 and all of my lessons were published with the latest version.
I think I figured it out. I added custom feedback to my lessons this time using triggers and variables. For some reason, it appears that this is causing a problem with the word bank drop area in html5. The Flash output is not effected. This occurs in 1 and 2 but did not implement this until Storyline 2. The Javascript has always been inserted so that should not cause problems. I have attached a sample.
I included one more test file focusing on the html5 output. You can see that when there aren't any triggers for the question the drop area appears, as in the first question. When you have triggers, as in the second question, the drop area does not appear. This appears to be a bug as adding triggers and variables to a slide should not cause this kind of issue. Thanks for your time.
Articulate Storyline 2 Update 5 is now available for download. It includes WCAG 2.0 support, several new accessibility features, better HTML5 performance, and bug fixes. Click here for details:
I have the same problem. If I set 3 attempts with only 1 feedback all works find in html5, but when I updated my storyline 2 flash file to storyline 360 html 5, where I had a counter that kept track so on the final attempt (3) it was to give them extra help with a sound file, then it would not work. It would state that the question was not complete now matter what they did. If I removed the counter and extra feedback, once again it functioned fine. The original Storyline 2 file (as flash) works great. When used as Storyline 360 (so html5 with no changes), it does not work. Any idea when this will be resolved?
Since this is an older thread, I'd like to start fresh. Would you mind sharing a copy of your Storyline 360 file with me? I'll take a look and let you know what I find!
Here are both files. The Storyline 2 works great. The 360 does not. All I did was upgrade it from 2 to 360. It is all the Word bank slides so 5, 7,10, etc. Is it an html5 thing? That is what I am assuming, but I thought it worked as html5 in storyline 2.
Thanks for sharing those files so that we could take a look.
We do have an issue reported when the Drop Target has 'No Fill' or a Dashed outline. Looks like yours was set to No Fill and that is why you are experiencing the issue and it is limited to HTML5 output in SL360.
We do have this reported and I will add this thread as we track user impact and so that we can update you here when we can. I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.
In the meantime, you can adjust the 'fill' and it will work as you intend:
Thanks for sharing your file. I tested it on your file as well, and what I experienced with your drag and drop word bank was that I wasn't able to drop the items in the HTML5 output? Is that what you're seeing? It seems to be connected to the additional triggers you've added to your word bank question - which can tend to cause odd behavior with a drag and drop and override the built in settings.
I'll share this with my team - but in the meantime, I'd look at removing those additional triggers to change the state or adjust the variables and use the built in question set up. You could track the users attempts by adjusting a variable on the Feedback slide layers - as that won't have any impact on the question set up.
Yes Ashley that is true, but according to Leslie (see above) if I did what she said it would still work with the triggers, but it did not. Any idea on that? My last trigger is audio which is why I set it up that way.
I certainly apologize for any confusion. The steps that I shared with you were from my course and it worked the first time, but I've since wiped out my storage and do not have the original file I worked on. I'm now getting the same results as Ashley. We did discuss it and have reported it to the team for further investigation.
The other element is that we do still have a known issue where the drop targets that don't have a fill or are using a dashed line won't work correctly. That piece may be what Leslie tested independently and without your additional triggers.
"I'd look at removing those additional triggers to change the state or adjust the variables and use the built in question set up. You could track the users attempts by adjusting a variable on the Feedback slide layers - as that won't have any impact on the question set up."
Sure thing - I made a quick example using your course (stripped it down to one slide) and what you'll see is the course is set up to track the number of attempts based on the user visiting the "Try Again layer" and a number variable. You had a second try again layer -and a limit to the number of attempts for a total of 3, so I didn't want to change your numbers but you could play around with it to see the behavior.
I'm happy to share that we just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes that you'll see in the release notes here.
I'm sure you'll be most interested in:
Fixed: Drag-and-drop questions weren't always evaluated correctly, and drag items weren't precisely centered in drop targets.
Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for Storyline 360. Details here.

Hi Brian!
I am not able to re-create what you are describing here.
Here is my published output:

Are you able to re-create this issue in a new file?
Are you utilizing the latest update to Storyline 2?
Hello Leslie,
I cannot re-create this in a new file. It appears to occur in all of my lessons that were converted from 1 to 2. I am using the latest version of Storyline 2 and all of my lessons were published with the latest version.
Hi Brian! I tested this so that I could share with our QA Team, but I am unable to re-create this issue as well.
Do you have your original Storyline 1 file for me to try to upgrade?

Hi Brian!
I'm not seeing where your course worked in HTML5 in SL1 either, and I cannot re-create your issue in a new file.

Thank you very much Brian! You set my testing up for me :)
I'm sharing this with our QA Team for further review.
I will flag this thread for update when applicable.
