Help with Motion Paths

Aug 31, 2016

Hi everyone!

I'm new to e-Learning and have my first CBT course due in the next few weeks and was hoping someone can please help me figure out how to set my triggers.

My project includes questions, which I thought would be neat if I gamified the activity instead of just throwing all the questions out there - so boring! We have a company softball tournament coming up so I figured the game will be softball related.

The objective is to move the avatar through all four bases by answering five questions. The first correct answer will move the avatar to the home plate to "bat." The second correct answer will move the avatar from home plate to first plate and so on and so forth. If the learner answers all the questions correctly, the motion paths look fine, BUT when the learner answers a question incorrectly, the object moves when I actually want it to stay put, wherever it is at. I hope I'm not too confusing in my explanation, but please check out the story I attached and hopefully you can see what I'm talking about.

Thank you for taking your time to help me with this matter!

Best regards,

Janet

Hi Wendy,

I appreciate your prompt suggestion! I went ahead and made your suggested changes, however, it is still not working. For example, I intentionally missed the first question, which left the avatar at its starting position. Then I answered the second question correctly and the avatar moved according to the motion path on the trigger panel, which was designed to move from home base to first base, BUT in this case, it should be from starting point to home plate. I feel like I need more variables and/or triggers in either situation...I just don't know what they should be.

I've attached the story file with your recommended changes so you can confirm that I'm doing what you proposed.

Hi Janet

check out this tutorial - I think you will need to have relative start points on your motion paths. This means the motion path will start from wherever the object currently is on the screen, which in the case of the user getting an incorrect response you want it to stay where it was and not move until the next correct question is met
