Multiple result slides and reporting to the LMS

Mar 28, 2019

Hey guys,

I've tried this before using SL 1 and 2 and know it doesn't work, but now I'm working to 360 and hope it's been addressed somewhere.

I've got 3 assessments with their own results slides, but the user doesn't actually have to pass all assessments to pass the module. I know the LMS can only read 1 result slide. Is it possible to pass the users score manually to a 4 results slide (which the LMS will read), do some fancy maths and pass the correct score to the LMS.

I have read these posts:

https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/course-with-5-different-assessments-only-giving-results-for-one

https://community.articulate.com/discussions/articulate-storyline/multiple-result-slides-77430464-9c95-4082-90e9-4091d7f16e99

So I know I can manually trigger complete or incomplete but can I pass along the users score into a 4th results slide to register pass/fail from only 1 of 3 assessments?

If not, then my workaround would be creating 3 assessment only modules to be uploaded to the LMS separately.

Cheers

Good day Allen.

This is no easy task to achieve. Since Storyline's Results variables are locked down, you will need to use JavaScript and extensive variable manipulation in order to get this (maybe) work like you want to. It will also not be a easy thing to test since JavaScript doesn't execute within Storyline's preview and you will need to have a LMS with logging capabilities (like SCORM cloud) where you can intercept activities to see what the LMS is doing with your eLearning package (basically a statement log).

It will also become a massive administration headache should the course undergo drastic changes in the future.

I have attached a file herewith that you can review and test on your LMS to see if it achieves your goal.

Awesome thanks Joey. I figured that would be the case. I remember the work around we developed last tine was a nightmare and wasn't perfect. It was one of those cases where the effort just wasn't worth it. I was hoping it had been addressed within the software itself. Thank you for clarifying this for me. Good news is the project isn't urgent and I'm confident we can work with this.
